Eternal Security Teachers

Are Very Dangerous People

Dan Corner

Eternal security teachers are very dangerous people. Don’t ever forget this fact and warning. Though it may seem like an exaggeration, they are vastly more dangerous than quack medical doctors or even serial murderers. This is because they can adversely affect you throughout all eternity and not just shorten your physical life. It will be your eternal soul—your most valuable possession—that will suffer by the deception they put you in.

Their False Salvation Plan

The eternal security teachers want you to believe the exact opposite to the Bible in areas related to salvation that can, and will almost always, adversely affect you from entering the kingdom of God. See 1 Cor. 10:12 and Rom. 11:20-22. Their message is not only in error, but is a definite denial of God’s truth. One such example is their contradiction of Jesus’ teaching to his apostles—“But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven” (Mt. 10:33). They openly teach that you can disown Jesus but he won’t disown you! Another example is their idea of bondage being walking in holiness and the fear of God. Scripture says that keeping God’s commands is not burdensome (1 John 5:3) and that Jesus’ yoke is easy and his burden is light (Mt. 11:30). Eternal security is not the Christian message, but a dangerous counterfeit and distortion, though it uses Biblical terms.

The bottom line in their security message is to convince the Christian that he can drift to the extreme of being an adulterer and murderer like King David, an idolater like Solomon, disown Jesus like Peter and live worse than the pagans as the unnamed man of 1 Cor. 5 did, and remain saved while unrepentant. Be assured they won’t openly admit this with the aforementioned clarity, but this will become evident in their teachings as they mishandle the Scriptures and allow for every sort of evil in their goal to convince you that there is salvation security in sin. All eternal security teachers, with no exception, believe such about David, etc. and want you to receive this deadly spiritual poison too. They will make this a priority as they avoid hundreds of clear Scriptures that dismantle their thesis and twist dozens of others to allow for wickedness, blasphemy, continued lukewarmness and doctrinal apostasy for the Christian. To them this is grace as well as the gospel.

Poison Not Food

Instead of getting wholesome spiritual food for your soul about salvation from them, you will get deadly spiritual poison. This poison will come as they contradict the biblical message regarding the deadly dangers of sin in the life of a Christian, the need to live holy for salvation, the vital necessity to endure to the end, etc. The so-called truth they spread and defend will lead those so deceived into the flames of hell, while they think they are on the road to heaven in their sins at the expense of their rewards.

Again, don’t forget that their unconditional security-in-sin message is part of their salvation message, but it is not the one and only salvation message of the Bible. It flatly rejects and opposes the conditions of the true gospel of grace (1 Cor. 15:2; Col. 1:23). It is a false gospel (Gal. 1:8,9) and a bogus grace message that is a license for immorality (Jude 3,4). Please see the definite differences between their spurious salvation/gospel message and the Christian one as shown in another one of our articles Which Gospel Do You Believe?

Don’t Support a False Gospel

Since the eternal security teachers are doing such lethal harm to so many souls, how can any Christian rightly justify helping, supporting or even verbally encouraging the spread of their false salvation and security-in-sin message? The truth is: Christians must be careful not to share in their wicked work by helping them or by providing a platform for their poisonous message to go forth. See 2 John 10,11. To aid and abet the spread of their deadly message is serious. Surely there are multitudes in hell at this moment because they were deceived by these harmless looking eternal security teachers and the so-called freedoms they learned from them under their perverted version of grace.

It is a fact that our behavior is affected by what we accept as truth. If you accept as truth that you are, without doubt, going to enter heaven after you die because you are eternally secure, you will act accordingly by: (1) Lowering your guard that you must be on to remain faithful to the very end to enter God’s paradise kingdom (Rev. 2:10,11; Mt. 10:22; Heb. 3:14). (2) You will not make a continuous and agonizing effort to enter the kingdom doors as Jesus commanded (Lk. 13:23,24), since you have been deceived into thinking this is legalism and a work’s salvation. (3) You will not keep yourself from sin (1 Tim. 5:22; 1 John 5:21; etc.), since you have been deceived into thinking that God is keeping you and you better not be trying to keep yourself. The same goes for holding on, even though Jesus taught Christians this very truth (Rev. 2:25; 3:11) and it is a foundational part of the real gospel of grace (1 Cor. 15:2).

The Victims

Furthermore, the victims of eternal security teaching who lose their salvation will never be aware of it and therefore, will never repent of their sins for salvation’s sake, especially if they think their future sins have been forgiven before they were ever committed. We have often seen that it is only after eternal security proponents realize this doctrine is false that they repent of their sins. (They remain unrepentant while in this belief.) This is more proof that the doctrine of eternal security is a deadly snare and a lethal trap for all so deceived and all God fearing Christians, with no exception, should strenuously battle against it.

The Christian walk, in part, is a fight over God’s truth. Since the eternal security teachers are countering God’s truth, they are enemies of the true gospel of grace. They must be fought against and refuted. This is war! The battle can be fierce, but we have been called to be soldiers of Christ who are to endure hardship (2 Tim. 2:3). Since they have big money powers, publishers, radio stations, etc. behind them and we that embrace the truth are in the minority, we have our work cut out for us. But dear Christian never forget we have God and His truth on our side!

Count The Cost

Many will think you are a heretic and teaching a works salvation because you oppose the big named respected eternal security teachers and stand on Scripture and Scripture alone. We have seen this numerous times. That doesn’t change the fact that these dangerous-but-innocent-looking popular teachers should not just be ignored but strongly opposed, even at the expense of your doctrinal reputation. And remember this: Just because they are doctrinally sound in some areas doesn’t mean their so-called gospel is not dangerous. Neither should we view them in a favorable way. Be on your guard against their other teachings as well because the eternal security heresy will permeate various things they proclaim.

If God has opened your spiritual eyes to the lethal dangers of eternal security teaching you will be held accountable for this precious knowledge. Therefore, oppose this teaching with the same intensity you would some known false prophet also proclaiming a counterfeit gospel. As Christians we have been called to do this type of battle. For the sake of truth and all those who can yet be helped, fight the good fight of the faith (1 Tim. 6:12). Precious souls hang in the balance. We are battling for eternity. Remember that the eternal security teachers are vastly more dangerous than quack medical doctors or even serial murderers.

Finally, to have your family and especially your children subjected to their teaching will produce an unholy and disobedient offspring. We have received emails that can testify to this very thing.
